ASTON VILLA'S VICTORIOUS PAST AND AWESOME PRESENT!
Up until 1874,there was no such thing as Aston Villa.Ever since,they have won the 1st Division (The old version of the Premier League)7 times,both of the domestic cups and even the European Cup ( The old version of the Champions league)once.They are the 4th most successful English football club
.Last season,Aston Villa were very unlucky not to get a Champions League finish,after a poor run towards the end of the season.During that run,they lost to Liverpool,Chelsea and only managed a draw with Stoke,despite being 2-0 up with only 3 minutes of normal time left to play.They did win twice during that period though, with two 1-0 wins against Hull and Newcastle,both at Villa Park.So far this season,they have managed to take 10 points from 6 games against top 4 teams.This season,they have lost league five games,including a 3-0 hammering at the Emirates,despite the score being 0-0 at half time and have drawn 7,but have won all of the rest of their games .Those wins include a 3-1 victory at Anfield,a 2-1 win against Chelsea at Villa Park,a 1-0 win at Old Trafford and a 5-1 thumping of Bolton at home,a game which marked the Premier League debut of 19-year old midfielder Fabian Delph.They have also managed to reach reach the Carling Cup Final and are still in the F.A Cup.
1982 was a fabulous year for Aston Villa.Not only had they won the 1st Division the previous year,but they won the European Cup that year and went on to win the European Super Cup the following year.For the next few years after that,Aston Villa were well and truly an unstoppable team.Unfortunately,during those years,English teams were banned from participating in the European Cup because they were running rampant in the competition.
